Our privacy commitment
EthioPlay is designed to process personal data lawfully, fairly, transparently and only for defined purposes. We aim to collect the minimum information required, keep it accurate, protect it and retain it only as long as necessary.
Information we may collect
- Contact and identity information such as name, work email, telephone number and organization when you make an enquiry.
- Account, subscription, payment and entitlement information when those services become available through connected EthioPlay products.
- Device, connection, security and diagnostic information needed to deliver, protect and improve the service.
- Viewing activity, preferences, accessibility settings and language choices where permitted and explained.
- Messages, support records, rights requests and choices about marketing or optional analytics.
Why we process information
- To respond to enquiries, provide requested services and perform agreements.
- To protect accounts, content rights, viewers and the platform from abuse or fraud.
- To satisfy legal, regulatory, accounting and licensing obligations.
- To improve service reliability and understand performance using aggregated or appropriately protected information.
- To send optional marketing only where there is a valid basis and an available way to opt out.
Sharing and international transfers
We may use carefully selected hosting, communications, payment, support, analytics and security providers under appropriate contractual and technical safeguards. We do not sell personal data. Where data is transferred outside Ethiopia, EthioPlay will apply the conditions and safeguards required by Ethiopian data-protection law.
Your choices and rights
- Ask whether we process your personal data and request access to it.
- Request correction, completion, deletion or restriction where applicable.
- Object to certain processing or withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
- Ask about automated decisions and request human review where applicable.
- Complain to EthioPlay and, when available and applicable, the competent Ethiopian supervisory authority.
Children and family profiles
Children’s experiences require heightened protection. We intend to use age-appropriate design, restricted profiles, parental controls and limited data collection. A parent or lawful guardian should manage a child profile where required. We do not knowingly use children’s data for targeted advertising.
Security, retention and contact
We use access controls, encryption where appropriate, logging, testing and incident procedures proportionate to risk. Retention periods depend on the purpose, legal duties, disputes and content or financial records. Privacy requests may be sent through the Legal topic on our Contact page or to support@ethioplay.et. Identity verification may be required before fulfilling a request.
